Bonbons
Disclaimer: One of our customers shared this story with us. With his permission, we’re sharing it here too—without naming him.
It was a regular Wednesday at the office.
Work was in full swing: calls, emails, meetings, one thing after another.
Then, around 3 p.m., he got a message from his wife:
“So. Are we doing anything tonight?”
He glanced at it, replied quickly, and went straight back to work.
“Kyun, aaj kya hai?”
Silence.
Work carried on.
It wasn’t until around 6:30 p.m., when he looked at the date properly, that it hit him.
It was their anniversary.
And then came that sinking feeling.
She remembered.
She was waiting for him to get home.
And there was a very real possibility that the evening was about to begin with a conversation about how he had forgotten.
By the time he called us, he had already started scrambling.
Flowers on Blinkit.
Cake on Zomato.
A few dresses on Amazon.
Flowers and cake felt too predictable. The dress wouldn’t arrive in time.
Then he remembered something.
He had tasted Mabon’s bonbons at a society exhibition we had done a while ago. His wife had particularly loved the dark chocolate bonbons with fruity fillings.
That was it.
Something she had actually enjoyed. Something he had remembered. And, most importantly, something that could still make it to her that evening.
We helped him put together a box of bonbons. But given the occasion, he decided to go a little bigger and picked a hamper instead—with an assortment of fruity bonbons and chocolate barks loaded with pistachios, almonds and dark chocolate.
The next day, we called to check in.
The chocolates had been a hit.
She was so happy with the surprise.
And then he told us something that made the whole story even better.
They had decided to go on a trip together.
The plan had been made that very night—sitting together on the sofa, watching travel videos and eating chocolates.
From a forgotten anniversary at 6:30 p.m. to a surprise, a sofa, chocolates and a holiday plan.
Not a bad recovery.
For us at Mabon, hearing that was genuinely heartwarming. Because sometimes, a gift isn’t really about how much you spent or how elaborate it is.
It’s about remembering what they like.
And sometimes, it’s about remembering just in time.
So, whether it’s your anniversary, your parents’, your friends’, or even a colleague’s—if you’re looking for something that can add a little more sweetness to the celebration, we’d love for you to try Mabon.
Here’s our anniversary collection—something for her, something for him, and something to share together.
